"To Bleed or not to Bleed. What Blood to Use is the Question".

Hello again Tinsley Peeps,

This is it, October is here and we are a short 30 days away from another Halloween.

Here at Tinsley Transfers everyone is excited about getting ready for Halloween, dressing up, going to social gatherings, Trick or Treating or staying home and passing out candy.

Every year there seems to be trends to dress up as the latest Superhero, Serial Killer, Sexy whatever or take your pick with any Disney character, which nowadays pretty much means any of the three previously mentioned categories.

If there was one thing that connected any of these very different categories together, then that one thing would be Blood. Blood is the universal makeup. It's the staple of any good makeup kit and the center of most Halloween character ideas. Do any of the following sound familiar.

Sexy Nurse, nope. DEAD SEXY NURSE

Playful Doll, uh-uh. KILLER DOLL

Bride to be, guess again. MURDERED BRIDE

Prom Queen, yea. BLOODY PROM QUEEN

You get the idea. Most great Halloween Horror ideas start off great and then get drenched in wet crimson BLOOD.

With so many choices out there, we thought it would be best to highlight our Blood FX line and give you some insight as to why ours is so good and so different.

Lets start with our best selling Blood FX product.

BLOOD FX RED DRYING

You might be asking why call it Red Drying? The answer is simple, it's red and it drys.

When Tinsley Transfers searched out to make a bloodline we sought other bloods on the market within the same category. Two of the top sellers in this category would be Mehron Stage Blood, Ben Nye Stage Blood and Cinema Secret Pro Blood.  These bloods (like most) have sugar based products like Corn Syrup. Ever wonder why these products are so sticky, yep you're putting syrup on your face and body when you should be keeping it to your pancakes.

Our Blood FX uses NO SUGARS, SYRUPS or STARCHES.

Blood FX Red Drying also has surfactants that keep it flowing smoothly on the skin. Surfactant? Yes this is the substance that reduces the surface tension of a liquid in which it is dissolved. Point being, you know when you put other brands of blood on your skin it beads up like water on wax. Well, this is because the tension of the liquid has not been treated with an ingredient that helps it run smooth over the "tension" of the skin.

Our Blood FX RUNS SMOOTH OVER THE SKIN

Lets talk about the Drying. Why is this important. For us here at Tinsley, it was important to create a blood that remained looking fresh but wouldn't transfer to clothing, furniture or other peoples costume. We achieve this by using a gloss base that when dry still appears to be wet. Other leading brands use syrup bases, they never really dry, they just get thicker and stickier.

Our Blood FX DOES NOT TRANSFER OR GET THINGS MESSY

Now it's tIme to talk about the most important aspect, COLOR. Simply put, the other brands use Red 40 and Blue 1. Both of which are good products buuuuuttt.....Tinsley's Blood FX uses multiple colors two additional colors in which make all the difference in the world. Real Blood oxidizes as it escapes the body. turning it more brown and rusty in color. Finding that bridge between the Red and Blue hues and the Brown and Yellow hues is the trick. Blood FX has found a delicate balance which adds depth and realism to our blood.

Our Blood FX uses MULTIPLE COLORANTS FOR REALISM AND DEPTH

Lastly I will sum up the Red Drying Blood FX with this...

...Our Blood FX DOES NOT STAIN

BLOOD FX GEL

The comparable products would be Mehron's Coagulated Gel Blood, Ben Ny's Fresh Scab or even Cinema Secrets Pro Gel.

In short, our Gel Blood FX shares all the same wonderful effects of the Red Drying (read above) plus a little more.

All these other brands use silica or fumed silica to thicken there blood into a paste. Again you might ask, why does this matter? SIlicas are the same thing they use to thicken the watery sugar substance that is in jelly doughnut fillings. Sounds good right, wrong. Silicas weaken the integrity of the product and make it stiff with no desirable outcome.

Tinsley Transfers uses a binder that thickens the base but strengthens the bond to the skin and allows for less reduction when dry, Yes I said dry. Again, why put a thick substance on your face or body that will just smear, flatten or droop. Our gel stays put and drys, giving you semi permanent results until you wash it off.

Gel's are great for making fast cuts, building texture to wounds, creating road rash etc.

BLOOD FX BRIGHT RED AQUAPHOBE

This is a fancy name for blood that has a fear of water. This doesn't mean it screams like a little baby at the sight of water but it does mean that it won't play nicely with water. Think of oil and water....they don't mix. Unfortunately for the other brands, there is absolutely nothing like this product on the market. So there will be no comparison.

What was the point of making this kind of blood?

Believe it or not, there is a lot of Trick or Treating done in this country by kids who are braving the cold and the rain. Most importantly, it's just a really cool blood.

It stays looking wet ALWAYS, it does not dry. It is thick but very soft and silky. Great for wet looking wounds, adding to lips (completely safe and non-toxic). Works well under any water based goo like KY Jelly or Slime.

BLOOD FX ROTTEN

Our Rotten Blood is formulated of the same material as our Red Drying and therefore performs the same. The difference is the color. Our Rotten Blood formulation was designed to be darker and deeper in effect.

This fake blood is great to add depth when paired with Red Drying Blood FX and or on its own when used for Zombies.

We hope you enjoyed this little insight to our Blood formulations. We felt it was important to create something different and therefore should share the information with you. Hopefully now you can make an informed decision on blood this Halloween (and buy ours).

We would appreciate you sharing this email to anyone you know who might enjoy these comparisons and whom might benefit this year from knowing what they are putting on their skin.

Happy Haunting!
