Founded by Hollywood make-up and
special effects artist Christien Tinsley, Tinsley Transfers
was established out of necessity during the filming
of Pearl Harbor. While working on approximately 40 extras
that required multiple wound and burn effects daily,
Christien realized the need for a quick, timesaving
tool to create such effects. The end result produced
an easy to apply transfer with an emphasis on the continuity
of the effects.
Established in 1999 Tinsley Transfers
has solely provided Hollywood’s biggest film and
television productions with custom transfers. Such stars
and films as Vin Diesel in XXX, Brad Pitt in
Ocean’s Eleven & Twelve, Sean Penn in
Mystic River, and Gary Oldman in Harry
Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban are trademark
creations. Major television shows as The OC,
Carnivale, and the upcoming Fox drama Prison
Break demonstrate the continuity of the effects
on the small screen.
Along with the 2-D transfers, Christien developed and
implemented a new process known as a “prosthetic
transfer.” This ingenious idea was created during
the filming of The Passion of the Christ. An
Academy Award nomination was given to Christien in 2005
for this inventive and time-saving process. Continued
use of the prosthetic transfer will be seen in upcoming
films such as The Cinderella Man with Russell
Crowe, Memoirs of a Geisha with Ken Watanabe,
and Find Me Guilty with Vin Diesel.
Tinsley Transfers continues
to grow and emerge as the leading provider of tattoos
and effects for some of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
